Until November last year I had an old style hot water tank and a flat electricity tariff (I’d say around 18p/kwh), and was putting in 4–5kWh a day, so let’s say 81p/day.

In November I moved to Octopus Agile, and cut down to an average of 2kWh a day at a price that tended to average 7p/kWh, so 14p/kWh. This required me to adjust a physical timer each day, and I’ll admit that the water was often not as hot as I’d have liked.

Since I got the Mixergy boiler, I’m now down to a bit less than 1.5kWh a day, still on about 7p/kWh, but it is much easier to manage and the water is always piping hot.
